yeah, it's the same old argument as the people who think AM! should've stayed they way they were on crime. what is it with the punk scene and it's hatred of evolution? then again, if anti flag made one die for the government after the other, i'd bet anything that people would say things like "they release albums that sound the same all the time. it's like they never change, it sucks"

I don't think that this argument is really about how the punk scene sucks, I think it's about how youth sucks.

Punks are, overwhelmingly, in the high school age range, maybe up to the mid twenties. And that age group tends to be, for lack of a better term, really stupid. These are the people who are responsible for mainstream music being so terrible. These are the people who buy albums for a song. Punks or not, it's really about how young people are fickle and stupid.

Of course, I am not implying that older folks are any better or wiser. It's just that once you reach a certain age you tend to stop paying attention to new music and just keep buying things that sound the same, or are the same, as what you listened to when you were 19.

tl;dr - people are stupid.

Hahah, just a little bit.

But Lex and I are just as creepy in our love of men with skinny legs and tight pants. It's all good.

Lex, did you see that Horsebites made a new Anti-Flag t-shirt design? It's pretty neat.

haha, I look at skinny legs the same way I look as muscly legs. I'm not leg prejudice, don't worry. It just happens that a good percentage of the men I'm attracted to have smaller legs. This conversation is getting weeird.

HORSEBITES makes awesome art for all kinds of bands. The DTM Cuban Ballerina cover and some of their shirt designs comes from him. It's sweet stuff.

Yay, Shit all over my opinion and call it childish and say that I think bands should never change! Bands change, I realize that. But I listen to a band because they have a certain style that I like, and when that style changes (especially after coincidentaly signing to a major label) it's a bit unnerving. I realize that a band will change it's sound, but they have to keep a core identity to make them recognizable (beyond the singer voice), at least for me. It's almost as though you read my post and then replaced what I said with something far easier to rebut and put down. I think we can at least come to this concensus, AF has changed with their signing to a major label. Whether you think those two coincide or whether you like the change is up to you. We obviously can't prove to anyone that the change is good/bad or caused by the signing to their new label.

And to the guy calling me stupid for complaining about the direction one of my favorite bands is going becuase other more important shit is happeneing: This is an AF thread in a category about bands, not current events. I put my two cents in on the important shit too, just look at the discussions category and I'm all over it.

Music is very important to me and it's very hard to find a band that I like. I'm more into a punk sound, an unrefined sound, I like the band to be passionate, and I like them to sing about something that's important, not BS like how angry they are, how in love they are, or how bad ass they are. It's very difficult to find a band like that, and I always seem to find them right as they start to move on to a more refined sound. Don't call me childish for voicing my distaste for the direction a band is going. It's not just a knee-jerk reaction to any type of change, it's a well thought out opinion of where I believe a band is going and why.

"We were pretty much stressed with TBLOA coming out. We worked hard for this disc and it was not supported by the label as it would have deserved . So now, I do not believe that we will work with a major in the future. This is not that we are in bad terms with them, it is just the classical history of the group that signs with a team that two years later is done turned, or was transfered. Today we are with RCA, with people who do not know who we are. We are very disappointed about the work of RCA in the United States while we are constantly in tour, we have great opportunities, and they leave the disc dying. This is not what we conceived in our collaboration. Our contract was of two albums and I do not think that we will sign again. But The Bright Lights came out three months ago, we love these songs and we will defend them the most we can. Then, before all, our goal is to have fun. We did it before this signature and we will continue after."

Interesting, I wonder what label they'll end up on for their next album.

Hmm...I have mixed opinions about Anti Flag.

I like Die For The Government.
I havent heard much in between A New Kind of Army and TBLOA.
I like "Spit in the Face" off of TBLOA.
I like Summer Squatter...I like Thats Youth.

Pretty much their ska sounding songs, or songs where andy sang = good for me.
Other than that, I dislike them...Justins voice really puts me off of the majority of their songs.
